No Longer A Topshop Virgin

I am excited to say that Julia is no longer a deprived little girl and is no longer a Topshop virgin (**snaps all around**)!!  I recently ordered a beautiful dress from Topshop to wear to my 16th birthday party and some super cute black boots.  They finally came and I can confidently say, "Hi, my name is Julia and I am a Topshop addict."  I know I only own two items from Topshop, but now I have a whole list of goodies from Topshop that I definitely have my eyes on.

It pains me to say that I've actually only known about Topshop for a little while.  I have heard about the brand before; however, I never really became interested in it until I saw the Topshop display at Nordstrom.  I instantly fell in love with the products and it was pretty much love at first sight.  I don't know why I am so obsessed with British clothing brands but my all time favorite store does happen to be ASOS.  I don’t know why, but I just haven’t found any other stores (here in the U.S.) that really tickle my fancy.  I know that Topshop is opening a store at The Grove in Los Angeles (on February 14); so, I am crossing my fingers that they will migrate up north soon and launch a Topshop store in San Francisco!

Queen B----!

It is safe to say that accessories are some of my favorite items, and let me tell you, I am absolutely obsessed with this metal-bow belt I got for Christmas! I have been trying to find an outfit to wear this cute belt with, but for some reason, the task has been quite challenging for me.  Yes, the belt is quite simple (a black belt with a gold bow in the center), yet I still couldn't seem to match it with anything!  Maybe it was because I wasn't looking hard enough in my closet, or rather, I just had nothing to wear with it (the explanation I told my mother, who sadly didn't give in to my sob story)!  When I finally paired it with my black and yellow sweater and black skirt, I was indubitably thrilled!  I had finally found the perfect outfit to go with the perfect belt!  I also had a blast conducting a mini photo shoot in my living room and applying spiffy effects to the pictures.  **Snaps for Julia**

belt: Banana Republic, sweater: J.Crew, necklace & skirt: ASOS, tights: Anna Sui, boots: Cordani

"oh so haute"

Fashion Week kicked off in Paris with Spring/Summer 2013 Haute Couture on Monday.  I felt like a princess just browsing through the images from the Elie Saab, Valentino, and Chanel shows.  Yet, Dior and Giambattista Valli definitely took it home for me.  I was instantly drawn to the bright colors and patters of Dior and I fell in love with the dresses and tulle skirts from Giambattista Valli.  Fall RTW, here we come!

Here are some of my favorites!

Friends with Benefits

Yesterday was my friend Laura's 16th birthday!  She treated all of us to makeovers at Benefit and dinner.  It was so much fun getting all galmed up at Benefit.  We had the choice of getting our eyebrows threaded, waxed, tinted, or to have our eyelashes tinted.  I chose to get my eyebrows threaded.  I have never gotten my eyebrows done before and let me tell you, threading is amazing!  It doesn't hurt at all (although you can literally feel every hair being plucked out).  For me, threading looks a little more natural, whereas waxing, it is quite apparent that you have had your eyebrows waxed.  Either way, you'll leave with gorgeous eyebrows.  After getting our eyebrows or eyelashes done, we got full on makeovers by Benefit.  Benefit is the cutest little makeup store I've ever seen.  Everything in the store was pale, pink, and very pretty.  I loved the wallpaper and wall decorations, adding to the cuteness of the store.  I really loved how the store itself is very clean and smelled like roses!  For my makeup, on my face I donned the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! in champagne, HoolaCORALista, and Watt's Up!  I really like this makeup because I did make my face look quite flawless and I absolutely loved the blush and bronzer.  For my eyes, I wore shadows from the palette, Big Beautiful EyesBADgal Liner, and They're Real! Mascara.  To finish off the look, I had my eyebrows filled in with the Instant Brow Pencil and I wore the most beautiful lipstick ever, Full-Finish Lipstick in wanna!  Out of all of these products, I have to say, my favorites were the Hoola bronzer, CORALista blush, Instant Brow Pencil, and the Full-Finish Lipstick!  At the end of the night, I ended up getting both the blush and the brow pencil but now, I am regretting not buying the lipstick for myself!  Yesterday was such a fun night and I highly recommend Benefit to everyone!  Go and check it out if you haven't already!

Smart Girls Find Loopholes

I was completely and utterly distraught watching the final episode of Gossip Girl last December.  Gossip Girl was like a dream/fantasy to me.  Watching the drama and love between Manhattan's elite unfold before me was how I loved to spend my Monday nights.  Not only was the cast dreamy, but the clothing, the clothing is what really sold me.  I don't know how many times I've told my friends how much I would love to spend just 10 minutes in Blair Waldorf's closet!  My heart jumped when B wore that gorgeous Elie Saab dress for her wedding (goodness, Chuck and Blair finally ended up together). Simply watching Gossip Girl made me feel like I too was living in New York City.  I don't know why, but I just felt so attached to this show and when it was over, I could not accept that anything would be as good as it.  Especially the show that would be replacing it!

I don't know what convinced me to watch The Carrie Diaries (a.k.a. the show replacing the one-and-only Gossip Girl every Monday night), but boy, oh-boy am I glad I did!  I instantly fell in love with this show.  Like Gossip Girl, The Carrie Diaries is full of interesting fashions, personalities, and it is set in New York!  The Carrie Diaries follows young Carrie Bradshaw (yes, the Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City) in her teen years.  I think one of the reasons I have fallen in love with this show is because it is so relatable. Carrie is trying to find herself and is in the midst of her fashion revelation.  Lately I've been telling myself that I would love to get an internship and see where it takes me, similar to Carrie Bradshaw.  Hopefully my dreams will come true, just as Carrie's are.

(*cheers*) To New Beginnings!

Nowadays, it seems like "everyone" is running a blog.  So I thought I'd test out the waters and give it a go.  All I can say is that I love fashion.  I never really knew how I could express myself until recently, when I discovered my deep admiration for fashion.  I know it takes a lot more to run a blog than to just have a keen eye for fashion.  It takes eloquent writing skills, a charismatic nature, and dedication.  I am going to try my very best to succeed in all of those categories and to share my latest obsessions! We all have our own opinions and there is no explicit "right" or "wrong" way when it comes to fashion (for the most part).  New trends are constantly being invented and experimented. Don't be afraid to start new ones and to stand out in the crowd!!

With Love,
     Julia

On this blog I will share with you my ongoing fashion diary, so I hope you enjoy!
